Enagás Renovable Joins the H2med Alliance in Berlin
24 de September de 2025Enagás Renovable took part in the launch event of the H2med Alliance, held in Berlin. The new alliance brings together leading institutional and business players in the hydrogen value chain to give decisive momentum to Europe’s first major green corridor, H2med.

During the event, which was attended by high-level institutional and corporate representatives, the H2med Alliance Cooperation Agreement was signed, and various working groups were launched to coordinate synergies, share strategic vision, and accelerate the development of the hydrogen market in Europe.
The H2med project, promoted by the gas transmission system operators of Spain (Enagás), Portugal (REN), France (Teréga and NaTran), and Germany (OGE), aims to connect the Iberian Peninsula with Northwestern Europe through two key infrastructures: CelZa, which will link Celorico da Beira (Portugal) with Zamora (Spain), and BarMar, a hydrogen pipeline between Barcelona and Marseille.
The Alliance has welcomed 40 new members, leading companies from the energy and technology sectors across the hydrogen value chain, including Enagás Renovable.
With an estimated total capacity of 2 million tons of hydrogen per year and an investment of around €2.5 billion, H2med is designed to transport up to 10% of the EU’s projected hydrogen consumption in the early 2030s, ensuring a competitive and emissions-free hydrogen supply. The Alliance is supported by European funds from the Connecting Europe Facility in its Energy chapter, to finance studies for H2med Corridor’s key infrastructures.
The creation of the H2med Alliance marks a key milestone in the roadmap toward European climate neutrality and strengthens the role of the Iberian Peninsula as a strategic renewable energy hub for the continent.
By joining this Alliance, Enagás Renovable reaffirms its commitment to the development of green hydrogen and the promotion of projects that foster the integration of clean energy and consolidate a more sustainable future for Europe.
