Green Hysland showcases southern Europe’s first integrated renewable hydrogen ecosystem in Mallorca during the Clean Energy for EU Islands Forum
26 de May de 2026Lloseta,
As part of the Green Hysland project, coordinated by Enagás Renovable, the Power to Green Hydrogen Mallorca (P2GH2M) pilot plant in Lloseta opened its doors to institutional representatives, European bodies, and energy sector stakeholders. The visit took place during the Clean Energy for EU Islands Forum, held on May 20 and 21 in Palma de Mallorca.
The visit provided an on-site look at the operation of one of Spain’s first industrial green hydrogen production facilities. This plant is a key component of the first renewable gas ecosystem in Southern Europe, consolidating Mallorca as a European benchmark for the real-world implementation of solutions based on renewable molecules.
Supported by the Clean Hydrogen for EU Islands, the meeting brought together various European stakeholders linked to the energy transition of island territories. It served as a firsthand opportunity to witness how Green Hysland is successfully deploying a complete renewable hydrogen value chain.
A pioneering project in operation

During the tour, attendees visited the 2.5 MW plant facilities and learned about its operation, as well as the various end-use applications for renewable hydrogen developed within the framework of the project.
The visit offered a practical demonstration of how the renewable hydrogen supply is structured for various end-uses, such as mobility, energy supply for buildings, and injection into the natural gas grid. By integrating production, logistics, storage, and consumption, Green Hysland stands as a tangible example of industrial and territorial decarbonization.
This project has positioned Mallorca as the first operational Hydrogen Valley in Southern Europe, proving the technical and operational viability of renewable hydrogen ecosystems and the critical role green molecules play in the European energy transition.
From strategy to industrial reality

Operational facilities like the one in Lloseta reflect Enagás Renovable’s commitment to developing real-world renewable projects that contribute to accelerating decarbonization, strengthening European energy autonomy, and generating new economic and industrial opportunities for local territories.
Green Hysland is a European project driven by a consortium of more than 30 entities from 11 countries, including industrial companies, technology centers, public administrations, and research organizations from across the renewable hydrogen value chain. Coordinated by Enagás Renovable, the project is supported by a €10 million grant from the European Union’s Clean Hydrogen Partnership.
