Enagás Renovable participates in the conference “Looking Forward: Renewable Hydrogen”, an event held under the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU
5 de July de 2023The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge held a conference at which experts from the sector discussed the progress and challenges surrounding renewable hydrogen and its main objective: decarbonization. This event has a greater significance as it is framed within the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, making clear its commitment to continue advancing in the ecological transition while betting on this renewable gas.
The first session, on pioneering renewable hydrogen projects, was attended by the CEO of Enagás Renovable, Antón Martínez, the Director of Innovation at Acciona Energía, Belén Linares, and the head of green hydrogen at Iberdrola, Millán García-Tola. Antón Martínez’s presentation focused on the lessons learned in the development of the #GreenHysland project, which has turned Mallorca into the first hydrogen ecosystem in southern Europe.
This project – Power to Green Hydrogen Mallorca – an initiative coordinated by Enagás Renovable and led by Enagás together with Acciona Energía with the collaboration of IDEA and CEMEX, includes the construction of an electrolysis plant, the development of two photovoltaic plants that feed it, as well as a green hydrogen service station on the island. The solar installations, located in the municipalities of Lloseta and Petra, have a capacity of 6.9 MW and 6.5 MW, respectively, producing the renewable energy needed for the green hydrogen plant that will generate and distribute more than 300 tons of renewable hydrogen per year.
The conference, “Looking Forward: Renewable Hydrogen”, has served as a space for collaboration, knowledge sharing and contribution to the dialogue around green hydrogen.
