29 de May de 2025

Yesterday, the Renewable Energies Forum of the Region of Murcia was held, a key event to address the challenges and solutions needed to advance toward a more sustainable energy model in the region. The event, which took place at the Assembly Hall of the Aula de Cultura Fundación Cajamurcia, brought together industry experts to reflect on and discuss the future of renewable energies.

Antonio Illescas Martínez, Director of Business Development and Biogas Operations at Enagás Renovable, participated in the roundtable discussion titled “Towards Sustainability: Challenges and Solutions in the Region of Murcia.” He shared the stage with other prominent experts, including:

  • José Miguel Morales, Director of Industrial Plants and Energy at CT Ingenieros.

  • Benito Montiel Moreno, Director of Promotion, Development, and Strategic Planning at Grupo Cobra.

  • Guillermo Roth Damas, Regional Mediterranean Director at Statkraft Spain.

  • Miguel Ángel Martínez-Aroca, President of ANPIER.

During his presentation, Antonio Illescas emphasized the essential role of biomethane as a key tool in the energy transition. He highlighted that the Region of Murcia is uniquely positioned for the deployment of biomethane, given its robust livestock and agricultural industry, a strong agri-food sector, and an urgent need for sustainable waste management solutions. Furthermore, this renewable gas can significantly contribute to the region’s sustainable development, particularly in the decarbonization of sectors such as industry and transportation.

The event, inaugurated by Alberto Aguirre de Cárcer, director of the newspaper La Verdad, and Juan María Vázquez Rojas, Minister of Environment, Universities, Research, and Mar Menor of the Region of Murcia, concluded with a lecture by Mario Picazo and closing remarks by José Luis Gallego, a naturalist and environmental communicator.

At Enagás Renovable, we extend our gratitude to the organizers and speakers for creating this platform for dialogue and collaboration, which is essential to tackling the challenges of the renewable energy sector.
